“Comparison is an act of violence against the Self”

comparisonThe worst thing you can do to yourself on this earth is comparing yourself to somebody else. You’ll be considered insecure and simply pathetic if you ask me. The flaws and imperfections are what make you unique, special and different from everybody else. We all want to be as beautiful as Beyonce or as successful as Dangote, forgetting we can be something more.

This comparison only discredits you as a person and denies you an opportunity to explore your full potential. Have you thought about being greater and better than them? Because it is a possibility. Figure out what you want to be and go for it, no one can ever take your place because nobody can play your role better than yourself.

The ultimate journey to becoming greater lies with you, but until you take the first step, lame shall be your permanent residence.

All the greatest people we see and envy, didn’t focus more on the comparison and that’s why only the sky is the limit. You have your strength and weakness, different thinking and ideas.  Use all that to your advantage, one step at a time, one book at a time but don’t settle for anything but greatness. Build your own legacy, your own brand and name. Be the next Lupita or better why not? Be another Julie Gichuru or greater.

It is okay to admire and pick a role model but don’t let their goals be the best you can ever achieve? Actually, equating yourself with others does nothing but limit you in every way possible. Let’s assume you achieve everything the person you are comparing yourself to then what? Don’t equate your life to others, there’s no comparison between the Sun and the Moon. They shine when it’s their time.

People have different struggles; you never know what hurdles they encountered before finally made it. It is thus healthier to Set your own goals and work on them. You really have no excuse for not being the person you want to be.

At the end of the day, we all have 24 hours, so what’ your excuse?
